“That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,(11) in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.” Philippians 3:10-11

“…work out your salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who is at work in you both to will and to work for His good pleasure.” Philippians 2:12-13

My name is Missy and I am blessed to share my story of how God made me His child.

I grew up going to church. My parents love the LORD and I was blessed to be taught about God from a very early age. At 7 years old, I prayed and asked Jesus to be my Lord and Savior.

During my late high school and early college years, I turned my back on God. I lived for myself and my pleasures. I did not care about what pleased the LORD. I just wanted to please myself.

God brought me back to Himself when I was 19 years old. I was in college and living in Erie, PA. In church one Sunday, I prayed and asked God for forgiveness for living for myself and asked Him to help me live for Him. When I prayed this, I thought that my life would automatically get better. I had this idea that it was like a magic wand that I waved over my life and “POOF” all the problems went away.

Well…that didn’t happen. I was experiencing the consequences of my sin. I went through depression. My depression was so bad that I could not finish that year of college. I had to withdraw from some of my classes and return home early. I spent the next year at home. During that time, God led me to apply to Baptist Bible College(BBC). I was accepted and enrolled in BBC the following year.

I graduated from BBC with a degree in Bible and Counseling. Since I have graduated from college, God has continued to open opportunities to serve Him. Currently, I am traveling with a ministry called Silver Ring Thing. Silver Ring Thing is a Christian based ministry that puts on live, high tech, shows to talk to young people about dating and relationships with a focus on abstinence. God has taken the pain I experienced from my disobedience and has given me a passion to share His truth with young people so they will not make mistakes that I did or if they have made similar mistakes to share God’s healing power with them if they have made similar mistakes.

One of my favorite verses is Romans 8:28 “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who love God and to those who are called according to His purpose.”
By God’s grace, I serve Him, live for Him and love Him. I was saved for His purpose and His pleasure. To Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen
